State Vision News Service Samba, Dec. 2 Deputy Commissioner Samba, Rajesh Sharma, chaired a meeting on Monday at DC Office Complex to review the performance and ongoing initiatives of the Revenue Department. The discussions centered around critical revenue matters, including digitisation and updation of Jamabandis and land records, a vital step to enhance transparency and efficiency in public service delivery. Rajesh Sharma emphasized the importance of accelerating these initiatives, highlighting their role in fostering a modern and accessible revenue framework. The administration reviewed strategies to tackle encroachment issues, including the expunging of illegal entries and implementation of ground level evictions. The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to work collaboratively in addressing challenges in revenue management and enhancing public service delivery. The meeting saw the participation of Additional Deputy Commissioner ADC , Assistant Commissioner Revenue ACR , Sub Divisional Magistrates SDMs , and Tehsildars from Rajpura, Vijaypur and Baribrahmana among other officials. Meanwhile, District Panchayat Election Officer DPEO and Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma today chaired a meeting to review the preparations for the upcoming Special Summary Revision of the Panchayat Electoral Roll. The initiative, aimed at updating the electoral roll of the District with the qualifying date of November 11, 2024, will ensure a transparent and inclusive democratic process at the grassroots level.
Key aspects of the revision process were discussed to ensure the electoral rolls reflect the latest and most accurate information. Officers were directed to engage local communities, resolve grievances promptly, and address any discrepancies identified during the process. The DPEO reiterated the importance of ensuring that no eligible voter is left out. The Special Summary Revision will commence with Publication of Draft Rolls on November 11, 2024. The Claims and Objections period, which includes provisions for additions, deletions, corrections, and transpositions, will run from November 11 to December 9, 2024. The Final Publication of the Panchayat Electoral Roll 2024 is scheduled for January 6, 2025. The meeting was attended by Deputy District Election Officer Dy. DEO , Sub Divisional Magistrates SDMs , Assistant Commissioner Development ACD , District Panchayat Officer DPO , Block Development Officers BDOs , and other concerned officials.
